Opioid epidemic: Working to turn research into action and better policy

Nearly 100 U-M research teams study different aspects of the opioid epidemic that has hit the United States hard and Michigan even harder. But getting their research into the hands of those who can use it poses a challenge.

That’s why U-M and Harvard University teamed up to hold a day-long Opioid Summit in May, featuring a broad array of state and national speakers. The summit was spurred by a commitment from the presidents of both universities to help translate the knowledge generated by top universities into actionable information. A second summit will happen this October at Harvard.
