U-M student Sam Saunders and his club, Seventh Mile Music, work to provide free music lessons to youth in inner city areas of Detroit.
After school on Friday afternoons, they fill the halls of Woodbridge Community Center with music. U-M students work with children from Detroit to introduce them to music and teach them how to play musical instruments.
Seven Mile Music is a student-driven initiative to bring music and arts education back to Detroit public schools. This is the second year that the group has visited Woodbridge to teach kids music. Seventh Mile Music visits weekly and reaches about 40 kids a week.
