U-M students learn about region’s housing issues

This fall, a group of U-M students traveled to northwest Michigan — many for the first time — to learn about the region’s housing issues.

The students, part of a U-M initiative called Michigan Engaging Communities through the Classroom, were in Traverse City to tackle solutions to the region’s housing shortages, in partnership with Networks Northwest and other community leaders.

MECC is working with six stakeholders in the Traverse City region to collaborate and explore the development of resource efficient strategies to provide a more diverse range of housing formats and price points in the 10 county region covered by the shared public service provider Northwest Networks.
