U-M project seeks to expand citizen engagement

A successful community outreach project linking U-M’s School of Information with government leaders elsewhere in Michigan, will be expanded – with an eye toward cities in Western and Northern Michigan — following receipt of a $378,000 Transformation grant via the Transforming Learning for the Third Century component of the University’s Third Century Initiative.

Citizen Interaction Design, a course to develop information tools such as apps, and Web and social media sites to foster citizen engagement with government, has allowed School of Information students to impact the city of Jackson’s relationship with it citizenry.
